Take Off

“In the structural perfection of the Modernist cube, with its minimalist range of colors defined by glass and transparency, we look straight into the emptiness of the container... Today we understand power differently, i.e., as a minimum path through a potential field. Depending on local conditions, this path can vary, yet the trajectory always rests on moments of mutual cooperation, a simultaneous comparison which delimits a minimum path.”
Cecil Balmond, "New Structure und das Informelle", Arch+ 139/140, 1998

As the advertising medium for the new Terminal II at Munich Airport, we created a combination of brand communication and art object with visual and kinetic interactivity, using the principle of an optical illusion. The lightness and elegance of the construction and the fascinating technical details make reference to BMW as an engineering brand.
